Sunway Hotel Phnom Penh is a deluxe 4-star property located within the heart of Cambodia’s “green belt” capital, Phnom Penh. Sunway Hotel’s continued efforts to preserve and protect the environment is recognised and it has the distinction of being the only hotel in Phnom Penh to receive the ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Award 2008.
The Objective And Challenge:
Providing Wireless Connectivity In and Outdoors
With the ever-spiralling growth in Internet access – hotel guests do not leave home without their laptops, smartphones and personal digital assistants which they use to access the Internet at their convenience everywhere.
Sunway Hotel already had a wireless network in place with 4 access points (APs) that covered the Meeting Room and Lobby area. The Hotel wanted to extend the wireless coverage, to better provide this businesscritical service to its hotel guests both in public areas and from the comfort of their rooms.

Deployment Details
Sunway worked with Kamprama Corporation, a systems integrator, to evaluate and select the right product for hotel’s network environment.
Sunway was impressed by Motorola’s overall enterprise wireless end-to-end solution that is coupled with strong and stable products. The deciding factor was the fast support offered and cost-effective pricing.
The installation took place at Sunway Hotel from the first floor through to the fifth floor. Kamprama provided the service installation and system integration, and took one day to install all the products.
The Results
- Ease of control with centralised networkmanagement
The addition of the Motorola Wireless Controllerhas helped to centralise and simplify real-time management and control of the entire Motorola hospitality WLAN portfolio.
- Simultaneous WLAN access & wireless security
The use of the Motorola AP650 has helped to lower the cost of deploying and operating a secure, reliable 802.11n wireless LAN on Sunway’s premises.
- Minimized disruption to daily hotel operations
The speed and ease of installation meant that both Sunway's guest and staff experienced little or no disruptions or inconveniences
